I passed!

I passed the LEED A.P certification test, so now I am a LEED Accredited Professional! Yahoo!!!

The test was WAY harder than I thought it would be in some ways, and way easier in others, so all in all I am just glad that it's done and over!

Mr. Pit is on his way home and then we're headed out to the mall to go to Apple and California Pizza Kitchen for dinner, yippee!!

If anyone cares (and I'm sure you don't) I got a 182 and the minimum was a 170 out of 200. So I am really proud of how well I did!

I am off to celebrate, hope you had great days!!

New Family Member

That's right friends, hopefully, if things go as planned and I pass my LEED A.P exam tomorrow, THIS little guy will be coming home with me! Plus, since Mr. Pit is a 'student' at Villanova, we get the student discount, as well as a FREE iPod Touch!!

I can't wait to get my new toy up and running tomorrow night (I'll be on the one JUMPING up and down at the Apple store tomorrow at King of Prussia) and then headed to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen, yum!!

Of course, if I don't pass (which isn't an option) I will be pouting at home watching Wall-E on DVD. But, I can't think like that, and have to stay positive...I am determined to pass, and I will! Anyways, I had a fun (study filled) weekend and I am feeling good about the test. Mr. Pit made it home from his 4th bachelor party of the summer and fell asleep at 9pm last night, poor guy. I caught one of the 2 groundhogs currently taking residence under our porch, and am confident we can get the other one soon (and they can be happily reunited at Valley Forge Park). I put out fresh romaine for him in the Have-a-heart cage, so hopefully he'll hop right in and we can take a little trip this evening to drop him off at his new home.

Then, as for life after my LEED exam...I am so freaking excited. Golf on Friday followed by fireworks and a barbeque Friday night, and then the Yankees game in NYC on Saturday and then next Monday off as a holiday as well!

Anyways, back to work (studying), hope you all had a great weekend!

xoxo Mrs. Pit

Furry Friday!

Hi everyone! I had a fabulous anniversary week, and I am really looking forward to the weekend (even though I am working from 6am to 4pm tomorrow)! Then I have my LEED exam on Tuesday, and I am so excited for it to be OVER! There will be much celebrating WHEN I pass the exam (Mr. Pit won't let me say if, as I *AM* going to pass this test, I am determined!).

With all that said, meet Virginia! (I am totally humming the song with the same name by Train)

Virginia is a daschund mix and is every bit as cute as can be!

She is only 2 years old and REALLY needs a home.

I mean, come on, can you say NO to that face? I think not!!

Go check out other pups and kitties that you can adopt at Main Line Animal Rescue this weekend or check out Petfinder for animals for adoption in your area.

Have a great weekend!

p.s, Alison at Blue Bell, top 10 Pit Family dinners EVER! Alison even gave us champagne and wished us a Happy Anniversary personally- HUGE fan of hers, HUGE!!

A very happy 3 years

Happy 3 Year Anniversary to us!

This day (well, it was a Saturday in 2006) I was a bride in the morning and a wife in the afternoon and I have never ever been happier.

I leave you with some pictures of the day, mostly because it makes me happy to think about how amazing that day was, and how it's gotten better everyday since.

Getting ready at my parents house

Married! (And taking pictures inside because it's pouring outside!)

Rocking my comfy custom golf shoes...thanks Footjoy!

We scooped ice cream instead of cutting cake, yum!

And then we were off to St. Lucia and Virgin Gorda for two weeks, yahoo!!

Happy Anniversary Mr. Pit, I love you!

3 years ago today...

We were rehearsing for our wedding and enjoying seeing all our friends in town for the celebration.

This picture shows us standing in a cardboard box, as I always said that it doesn't matter where we are, or where we live, that Mr. Pit and I could have fun and be happy in a cardboard box. So, our groomsman C made it a point to give us a box as a present :)

It was a great rehearsal dinner at Maggiano's and an even better day the day after!

On Wednesday, June 24th...

It will be 3 years since we did this :)

My favorite day ever!

Furry Friday!

Hi everyone and welcome to Furry Friday!

The sun is FINALLY shining in the City of Brotherly Love and I (along with 100,000 others) are thrilled!

We leave for Chicago tonight at 7, so pray for no evening thunderstorms to derail our plans! Then it's a Bridal Shower Saturday morning, then the Bachelorette party that night, followed by a very tired Mr and Mrs. Pit getting back on the plane at 11am on Sunday, eek! (Mr. Pit is NOT joining the bachelorette festivities, he and the groom to be will be up to something baseball related).

So, without further ado, I introduce Alexander! What a perfect preppy name for a perfectly preppy pup!

Alexander was rescued from a commerical breeding facility (a puppy mill) so he's a bit skittish around people at first, but they say if you give him time he is just as snuggly as you'd ever want!!

Alexander is a pure bred West Highland White Terrier (or a Westie for those with the lingo) and he is about 3 years old. He REALLY needs a new home, won't you adopt him today??

Main Line Animal Rescue is over run with dogs recently, so we really need your help! If you are thinking of adding an animal to your family, PLEASE consider adoption first, these dogs are great and are just as worthy a member of your family as a new puppy from a breeder (another plus is that it's COMPLETELY FREE to adopt from MLAR!)

So, on this wonderful (finally) sunny day, go bring Alexander home!

As always, you can visit other dogs at Main Line Animal Rescue HERE or Petfinder HERE !

To Britney, or Not To Britney

Mr. Pit just called and said he could get Britney tickets IN VEGAS ON THE FLOOR for $300 a pop...do we go for it? Buy them and try to flip them on Stub Hub?

Help!!!

OMFG...STOP RAINING ALREADY!

Ok...so this is getting ridiculous. We haven't seen the sun here in the Mid Atlantic since Sunday, and even then is was mostly cloudy. Today it has been POURING all day and tonight is a 'garden party' at Appleford Estate and now it looks like it will be more of a 'Tent near the garden' party due to all this rain! I just called my mom to make sure it was OK to wear my pink and green wellies, and she assured me that there is a coat room where I can change...but my goodness, it is crazy flooding everywhere too...where is summer?!

In other news, we finally refinanced the house, and it turns out we don't pay our July mortgage and the new payments pick up in August...so Mr. Pit has said that if I pass my LEED test (dear lord help me pass this impossible thing!) I can get an iMac, yee haw!!! Better motivation has never existed!!

I am now trying to figure out which laptop I want...I am dying for a MAC since everyone says they are phenomenal, though I am mostly partial to a PC since it's what I'm used to...so I'm thinking either a Dell Inspiron 15, a Sony Vaio, a Mac iBook or an HP (which have all gotten amazing reviews lately in PC world and other online computer sites)

So, to all my bloggy geniuses out there...what do you think?? I will try to post a poll on the blog (if I can figure out the widget) help me decide!

oh yeah, and I have already decided that I AM passing this test...so help me pick out my prize!!

He's back!

Ah, the prodigal husband has returned and all is right with the world :)

Of course, he has class tonight until 9:30 and I only talked to him for 5 seconds last night as I was half awake/half sleeping when he got home and then I left at 6:30 this morning with a scant "I love you" when I walked out the door. So, we'll do our catching up eventually, as well as a welcome home hug and a kiss tonight.

I also have a friend coming over tonight to look at the Scout stuff, so yay for more potential sales!

I had a nice dinner last night with my family and my grandfather and even forgave my older brother for losing our house key and not picking up Lil' Pup...but, I left work a little early, picked up the puppy and made it down to their house just in time for the steaks to go on the grill, yum! Lil' Pup also got some steak (which he promptly threw up in the car on the way back) but I think he enjoyed it in the beginning!

I am also proud of myself for NOT buying a new Kate Spade bag this morning as soon as I saw the Twitter post that they are having a 75% off Sample Sale...I showed great reserve and didn't pounce, go me!

Now I am at work writing change orders and otherwise trying to manage 6 contractors, good times.

Not much else going on over here in the City of Brotherly Love...I just realized that we are out on Thursday night so the packing will have to take place prior to that...and then I am taking the train to work that day so I have to get up even earlier because the train is on such a goofy schedule that early in the morning. Oh well, it's worth it for the reward of flying out to Chicago that night :)

Cloudy

Hi Pit Fans,
I am coming off of a pretty relaxing weekend and anxiously awaiting Mr. Pit's return from Las Vegas. We chatted lots over the weekend and I got lots of funny texts detailing various shenanigans with his best friends and I can't wait to get all the stories in person.

I know it sounds lame, and as independent of a person as I am, I still miss him when he leaves, even if it is just for 4 days. He is absolutely my very best friend, so when he's not around to talk to I feel a bit lost! Plus, with the 3 hour time difference it's not like I can call him all the time, nor do I want to be THAT wife. So it sounds like he had a great time even though he admitted yesterday to being exhausted (which ALWAYS happens when he goes out there) and again, I can't wait for tonight. He won't be home until about 1:30 am, but he promised he would get me up so we can at least chat for a few minutes.

On to my weekend recap...I ended up going out Friday night even though I had 1,000,000 things to do around the house and I am so glad I went. I met up with C (the super smarty who just got her PhD), her sister, and friends J and M and we had beers and appetizers at Theresa's Next Door and chatted for 3.5 hours! It was such a nice break and I did eventually get everything set up for the Scout Show so it was a win-win.

Saturday I got up early and went to Costco for food for the party (about 1/100th of what I bought was actually eaten) but it is all food I like so I didn't mind. The party was great, I had about 15 people come by and though not everyone ordered a lot I got some great feedback and some people ordered a ton! I still have more people coming by and ordering this week so it looks like Scout and I will do pretty well! Then my friend B and I went to a BBQ hosted by E and had a great time. We even got our hair styled by the cutest kids ever (I ended up with a side pony tail and B got a cool braid) and I am glad we made the trek down in the rain. Then of course, in true B and Mrs. Pit fashion, we stayed up until 2 am chatting and finally went to bed after we could barely form words.

Yesterday was pretty lazy, I did a lot of studying for LEED (15 days to go!) and sitting in the sun (when it wasn't behind a cloud!) and basically enjoying the outside with Lil' Pup.

Tonight I am headed to my parents house for dinner as my Grandfather is in town to play Pine Valley Golf Club tomorrow, so it will be nice to see him as I haven't seen him since I went down to Florida in January. Then I plan to get to bed early so I can awake to the front door opening around 1:30 :)

This week is quiet on the work front, but Mr. Pit and I head to Chicago this weekend for a joint wedding shower. Mr. Pit is at M's bachelor party this weekend and his fiance S invited us both out for their joint shower this coming weekend, so we're taking advantage of free tickets from Southwest (yahoo!) and heading to the windy city for a quick weekend jaunt.

Hope you all had great weekends!

xoxo Mrs. Pit

Furry Friday!

Hi guys, sorry for the lack of post yesterday. I had a lot going on at work and Mr. Pit left this morning for Vegas so we had date night last night and then before I knew it I was asleep. But, I'm up, it's ALMOST the weekend and I can't wait.

The Scout Home Show is tomorrow and I am very excited about it. I hope I get a good turnout (though a ton of people haven't responded) so I am hopeful!

And without further ado, I present...FURRY FRIDAY!

Meet Gavin! Yes, he has the same name as my DARLING Mr. Pit, and look at this face, almost as cute as his namesake!!

Gavin is a 4 year old PURE BRED Cocker Spaniel who needs a forever home! He is a new pup at Main Line Animal Rescue and came from a home, so he is fully housetrained and walks well on a leash. They don't have any write up on him on the website, but my sources say he's a great pup to have!!

Check out Main Line Animal Rescue today to check out all of their animals (they have a ton right now, so sad!) or check out Petfinder for pets in your area!

I also have to give BIG UPS to my girl C who just two days ago recieved her PhD from Penn! She is a brilliant one, that C, and we all knew she could do it. Apparently the dissertation defense went off without a hitch and I am so proud!! I love that I have such brilliant hardworking friends, I feel smarter just being near them :)

Have a great weekend, and if you're in the area, come to the Scout Home Show at my house! If you need directions email me at preppypitbull@gmail.com and I'll get it to you!!

A wish list or a to-do list...depending how you look at it

In emailing back and forth with Mr. Pit, I realized that I have quite the to-do list for the house, and he thinks that none of these changes are necessary at the moment (which, in truth, they are not, but I seem to always need a project, I AM a Virgo after all!)

So, here is my list of things that I wish I could do to my house right this minute.

1. Redo the front gutters. Rainwater leaks out of them from the inside edge, we can't figure out how, but it washes all of our mulch out of the beds and drives me batty.
2. Build a little retaining wall for the side of the driveway. Part of the lawn is falling away here, plus it's impossible to mow that side of it anyway, so we might as well build a wall and make it level.
3. Add two windows to the dining room. The original owners filled in a large picture window so they had a wall to put their china hutch. We now have a china hutch there as well, but it makes the room dark, so I want to add two windows, one on each side to let more light into the first floor.
4. Build a bigger deck. Or at least power wash the one we have. It needs to be cleaned and resealed.
5. Repaint the entire downstairs. The previous owners painted it a very "in color" of a mossy green. I think it's too dark, I want to go something lighter. Not a tropical green, just something with not as much yellow in it, more white.
6. Refinish the hardwood floors. I want to stain the wood darker as well, and then re-paint the baseboards a bright white so they "pop".
7. Put an entire master suite addition on over the garage. I want a big walk in closet, a big master bath and of course a big bedroom. We are a 3 bed 1.5 bath home at the moment, and the addition would make us a 4 bed, 2.5 bath, much better for resale and property value.
8. Get a new washer and dryer. There is nothing wrong with our current pieces, I just want new front loading ones that wash and dry things really quickly. I also want a washer with a bigger capacity so I can do our duvet cover instead of having it dry cleaned.

Ok, I think that's it for now...and I think I just spent $100K in imaginary 'wish' dollars.

Am I the only one who dreams of renovations all the time?

I know...a PRO

Hi there Pit fans,
I have some fun news today, and for any of you that are triathletes, or fans of traithlons in general, this may be a fun post for you.

I am lucky enough to love all of my cousins, and one of them happens to be a pretty big deal in the world of professional triathlons and Ironmans.

My cousin Andy has won two (yes TWO) ironman competitions, and numerous triathlons (2 already this season) and he's a US Olympian to boot.

The reason for this post is that Andy is coming to Philadelphia in 2 weeks. He is having dinner with my entire family and I am so psyched to spend some time with him. With his race schedule as it is, and training on top of that, Andy doesn't get much time to spend socializing, much less hanging out with his extended family. So, we're thrilled to see him.

He is a few years older than me and I used to love swimming in the lake in New Hampshire with him since he was so strong you could hold on to his back and he could swim like that forever! He could also toss you SO far into the air it seemed like you'd never hit the water again. We used to have all sorts of contests in the lake, who could swim underwater the farthest, who could jump the farthest off the dock...you name it, he won it, but was always such a good sport and so much fun to hang out with. I just adored him when I was younger, and I still do! His wife and baby boy (well, he's almost 2 so hardly a baby!) are fabulous as well. His son, Boston (not named after the city btw, named so Andy can call him BOSS) is just the cutest thing and is growing like a weed if the pictures on the website are any indication! The last time I saw him he was in the first stages of walking, now I bet he's racing like his Daddy!

Anyways, here are a few pics of my celebrity cousin...and you can check out his website HERE if you are interested in his life as a pro athlete!

Thunderstorms

We are having a thunderstorm right now unlike any other I have ever experienced. The sky is so dark it could be night time, the thunder is SO loud and moves the trailer when it hits, and the lightning lights up the sky like we're sitting in the middle of the Linc for an Eagles game.

I am having a really hard time concentrating on work with all this going on around me, this is crazy!

Oh, and good thing I work in a METAL box...we're not a target for the lightning now are we?!

Hope your weather isn't as intense as ours...I'll post more later.

xoxo Mrs. Pit

p.s. Am I a wimp for being a little nervous in the midst of all this? please say no!

Sleepy

Hi there Pit Fans,
It was a crazy weekend at the Pit House and I am one exhausted girl today.

Friday was nice and low key, exactly what we wanted, but come Saturday morning we were on a mission and didn't stop until 11pm last night.

Saturday morning we were up and hit Whole Foods, the golf club, KMart, and Acme, and in between then we managed to put the new bed together, clean the entire house, do 2 loads of laundry, weed the garden and make it to dinner at a friends by 5:30.

Then, Sunday we were up at 7 to go play in our respective golf matches (Dad and I came in 5th with a net 69 yesterday, woo hoo!) and then we worked like man men getting the house ready for our Iron Chef Guacamole Party. We had 4 couples come over, each bring their own guacamole, and then judged the respective recipes while draining 1 1/2 cases of Corona...ha! It was a great weekend I am just beat, and it probably didn't help that I probably had 6 beers on a Sunday night either. It was great fun though and the guacamoles were fantastic! I don't think I have to eat again for a week!

Mr. Pit has two clases this week (and two test tonight, poor guy!) and then he's off to Vegas on Friday morning for his best friends bachelor party. I get to host my first Scout Bag Home Party and I can't wait!! All the products came in last week and they are absolutely great. I showed a bunch of people last night and they were all really excited about Saturday, so I hope a lot of people come and that I will do well enough for Bungalow to allow me to do another one in the late summer :) :)

Anyways, I have a busy week at work, my desk is FULL of things for me to process, so I gotta hop to it...hope your weekends were swell!

xoxo Mrs. Pit

Furry Friday!

Hi Everyone! Welcome to a rainy Furry Friday :) It is kind of icky here in Philly today, but honestly, can you actually look at this little face and NOT smile? He is a ray of sunshine in his own right for sure. This is Hobey. Hobey is a lab mix and will celebrate his first birthday this September, so Hobey's still a young pup! He is super friendly and the staff at Main Line Animal Rescue couldn't be happier with this guy around. The only way they would is if YOU brought him home!

Check out his page at MLAR HERE or check out your local PETFINDER for a dog in your area!

I was supposed to play in a golf outing this afternoon but since it's pouring here in the City of Brotherly Love it was canceled, so instead I'll work the whole day and spend a quiet night with Mr. Pit (which I am actually quite thrilled about!)

Yesterday was a really hard and long day, as the funeral was one of the saddest I have ever attended. It is one thing to go to funerals of Grandparents and distant relatives, and it's a whole different story when the person was 28 and a good friend (and a brother of one of your best friends and fiancee of another) so this was particularly brutal, but I managed to get through it with little mascara stains even though I cried the whole time. Andrew will be missed more than he probably ever realized.

The Lilly sale on the other hand was more uplifting, but honestly I was disappointed at the range of clothes available. Yes they had tons of shoes and bathing suits, but I still think that $60 is a ridiculous price to pay for a bikini, and otherwise it was nothing spectacular. The polos were blah (and I already have one in almost every color) and the sweaters were non existent since it is summer...and the dresses, well...they didn't do anything for me. The men's stuff was better (I got my brother a fabulous white linen jacket for $30!) and my Mom and I bought all the men in the family matching madras pants for $10 each!

I ended up spending $137 which is a record low for me (last fall I went home $475 lighter in the wallet) but I guess with the recession it's a good thing. They didn't have ANY Jubilee pieces and none of the stuff I expected to see...but, I'll go back in the Fall and hopefully it will be better.

Anyways, I have a lot of work to do since I was out yesterday, but make sure to check out Petfinder or Main Line Animal Rescue for dogs and cats that you can rescue this weekend!

Enjoy! xoxo Mrs. Pit

Oh, and congrats to Blue Eyed Bride who had a baby boy this morning! Check out her twitter page for all the details, he's a cutie!!

Lost a follower

I just realized that at some point between yesterday and today I lost a follower.

Am I THAT boring?

Oh well.

Any sale updates?

So, I am a hardcore Lilly fan, but not so much as to get to the warehouse sale a whole day before and camp out. I mean, I love her stuff, just not so much at 3am on a Tuesday night...especially since I am lucky enough to live so close to the sale and headquarters themselves, I can't imagine sleeping on the floor or in a hotel when I could be in my own cozy bed.

Anyways...for those of you that ARE hardcore enough to do that, did you find anything this morning? Prep-E girl, I expect a full report!

I am going tomorrow morning and I am hoping hoping hoping that I find the Saemus dress!!

Not much happening today, Mr. Pit has class tonight so I will probably have something deeply fabulous for dinner like Macaroni or grilled cheese, and then I have to do a lot of studying as well as the clock is ticking down to the 30th!!

Hope everyone has a great day and that your dog didn't keep YOU up barking all night at the thunder!

Clothes out...Clothes in?

Hi all,
In response to the questions on the last post...that is the Saemus dress, and it sells for $498...so you can see how my wishing it down to $99 for the WH sale is a dream, but I can hope!

I also dropped off 3 HUGE bags of clothes to a consignment sale yesterday (and if they don't sell they donate them to goodwill) so I feel really good about getting the closet a little lighter. I felt a little guilty since some of the things I donated I had NEVER worn, but I figured that if I hadn't worn them in the 2 years + that I had them, they probably wouldn't be worn anytime soon...plus, I need to make room in my closet for my new Lilly clothes!

I am taking the entirety of Thursday off and am pairing a fun happy occasion with a very sad one...so I am hoping my day will balance out. I am meeting my Mom at the Lilly sale at 9 and the funeral for A is at 11, so I am hoping I can do the whole thing in an hour and a half or less. If I can't I will just go back Thursday evening, but I don't think it will take me too long. I am really just looking for the Saemus dress and some accessories and a tuxedo jacket for my brother. (He has been really adorable asking for it for about 6 months now) so I am hoping they have a good mens selection!

THEN Friday I was invited to a golf outing, so I am really excited to spend my afternoon out on the course. It will take a while (the outing doesn't start until 2) but Mr. Pit has an outing that day as well, so it's not like one of us will be waiting for the other at home which is nice.

Saturday I have a golf lesson and nothing else planned so that excites me to no end as well as I need a good relaxing weekend.

Off I go to work now, I didn't finish my big project yesterday so I have to start getting all that info together to present to the engineer for a judgement...fun times.

Happy Lilly Warehouse Sale Week!!

Monday, June 1, 2009

Is it too much to ask?

To have this be on sale in my size at the Lilly Warehouse sale this week? For like $99?

I think not :)

Pottery Barn Outlet- WIN

Hi all,
the weekend turned out better than I had hoped and Mom and I came home successful from the Pottery Barn Outlet.

This is our new headboard. It was one of the few queen sized headboards or beds at the outlet (They had a ton of kings and california kings, so if you need one, go! They are insanely discounted!) and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. It is not white (as I had hoped to originally get) but I think the dark mahogany stain will look great with our baby blue walls and navy blue summer blanket.

It was also discounted from $499 to $240, so it was a win all around!

We did run into kind of a pickle when it came to getting it home, as we drove my Moms Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is big, but not fit-a-headboard-in-the-back big...so we had to get it up and on top of the car. Little did we know that Pottery Barn has a policy of NOT putting things in or on your car for you for liability purposes...so Mom and I were stuck in the back loading dock area barely able to lift the headboard on our own, much less get it on top of the car. Luckily, the super nice PB manager saw our struggle and told us she would "close the door and her eyes" and if her loading dock guy happened to help us while she wasn't out there, there was nothing she could do. So, awesomely, she shut the door, he hoisted the bed onto the car and we were off. We drove home slowly (we had it all strapped down with bungee cords, but that didn't make me feel anymore comfortable about this hulking thing on our roof) and luckily Mr. Pit and I were able to get it down off the car with no problems and up to our guest bedroom.

The second part of our adventure is getting a bed frame, but I am planning on checking Craig's List this morning for any cheap ones, then if that doesn't work I will order the one from the PB website (so at least we are guaranteed it will fit). So, we should have the mattress and box spring up off the floor by the end of the week, and I can't wait to sleep on our new bed!

Otherwise, we didn't end up seeing a movie on Saturday, we went to Benihana for dinner and then came home to watch Season 2 of Weeds that came from Netflix. I freaking love that show.

Some fun stuff and not so fun stuff on tap this week, fun is dinner with my friend E on Tuesday and the Lilly Sale as well as the Father/Daughter golf tournament on Sunday, but not so fun is a funeral on Thursday. So, we'll get through this week one day at a time, as it's all we can do.

Hope you all had great weekend!

xoxo Mrs. Pit
