Whew!

Good morning!
After a whirlwind weekend (ha!) it is the freaking Tuesday before Thanksgiving, where does the time go?! My weekend was anything but whirlwind, in fact, I got so bored on Sunday I went over to my parents house for company. Not that I wouldn't have already gone over for Sunday dinner, but I certainly didn't see myself getting bored in my own house!

Anyways, the weekend was nice, I got a new needlepoint canvas to work on when I am done my other project, and as of last night the table cloth is completely ironed and on the dining room table ready for Thursday evening. Mr. Pit and I are going shopping for some last minute food for Thursday (fresh veggies and what not) tonight and then we should be all set!

The in-laws come in tomorrow afternoon, and both Mr. Pit and I have half days due to our very generous companies holiday schedule.

I also had my 18 week doctors appointment yesterday and got to hear the Littlest Pit's heartbeat again, a whopping 152 beats per minute and nice and loud. This is DEFINITELY my favorite part of every appointment. I also got my H1N1 shot last night and I am glad that it's now out of the way. I tried to get it Saturday from the County and it was a big disaster and I bailed, so I am very thankful that my OB had it last night.

The next ultrasound appointment is December 11th and NO, we will NOT be finding out the gender. This is the appointment that we could if we wanted to, but we are choosing to be surprised in April as opposed to now. I know it's a surprise either way, and yes, I am VERY aware that I am a Virgo and I love to plan, but whatever this little thing is, they will get a yellow room full of bunnies that they will live in until they are old enough to tell me to paint it another color...so there! (Sorry to rant, I just always catch such flack for not finding out!)

So, not sure if I'll get the chance to blog again this week as I'll be busy with family and dinner prep, but I promise the table looks fab and the turkey will be delicious (and I know this because I will NOT be the one cooking it!).

So, Happy Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I hope you all have great and happy holidays and that no ones family drives them completely batty over the weekend!

xoxo Mrs. Pit

Furry Friday!

Welcome to Furry Friday! Meet Bosley!!
Bosley is a handsome 'mini' mastiff and is currently being fostered by a local family, but I think it's your turn to take him home. I mean, look at that face!!

Here's his write up from MLAR:

Meet Bosley!! He is a gorgeous Dogue De Bordeaux. He is smaller than your typical French Mastiff, a mini mastiff! Great temperament comes with this boy, he plays well with humans (adults and children), in addition to his doggy friends. He will make a perfect companion for almost anyone! This well mannered, housebroken boy is currently living in a foster home where he enjoys his daily walks and just hanging out with his foster family. Please schedule to come meet this sweet handsome boy! For additional information and application, please contact Peg Benoit at Timber Ridge Rescue: pegbenoit@yahoo.com

Doesn't he sound fabulous!?

As always, you can visit Main Line Animal Rescue by clicking HERE or just google PETFINDER to find local animals who need homes in your area.

Have a great weekend!

xoxo Mrs. Pit

Am I the only one?

Who was disappointed in the Lilly Sale? It was supposed to be Jubilee...but I only found a few dresses that were actual pink label Jubilee stuff..and where were the bags? And the shoes? I'm sorry, 2 tables of shoes does NOT cut it for a hyped up sale. And the sweaters?! They used to have BOXES AND BOXES of cable knit sweaters and tops, this year they had ONE table and it was that wierd chunky knit SHORT SLEEVED cardigan thing...WTF? Sweaters are for when it's cold out. Short sleeved sweaters is about as logical as a screen door on a submarine. Sorry, but it's a pet peeve of mine. STUPID. I would have bought that sweater if the sleeves were long.

I ended up sticking to my rules, I got one dress for myself (which I can't find a picture of anywhere) but I love it and it will definitely work for me this winter. It has a belt so there is room for the ever expanding belly of mine to fit in it :) I got a sweater for my brother and a gift for a friend, but other than that I couldn't and wouldn't have bought anything else even if I did have an entire paycheck to blow. Hopsy and the other girls who went yesterday morning seem to have done VERY well and maybe that's because the morning had more options than the evening did, and that's awesome. I also don't fit in any of the sample sizes, so those racks were pointless for me to go through as sizes 4 and 6 don't cut it.

Sorry to be so complainy about it, it's just the second time in a row that the sale has disappointed me. I always want to go in and be blown away, and I never am!

Anyways, coming up is Furry Friday, so stay tuned!

Happy Thursday!

Hi all,
Though it is dreary and rainy here in Philly today, the week and weekend have lots of fun things on the agenda.

Tonight I am headed over to the Lilly Pulitzer Warehouse Sale in King of Prussia, then Mr. Pit and I are going to try to think of something fun to do for dinner. Tomorrow night we have a charity dinner to attend at Merion Cricket Club and I think it will be a great event as it always is.

Saturday I am getting my H1N1 shot (oh how fun it is to be 'high risk' these days!) and then going to lunch with Mr. Pit before he goes off to New England for the weekend with college friends. They are all going to the Patriots game on Sunday night and doing lots of things that boys do when they all get together before that.

Sunday will be spent with the parents and family friends who are in town to visit and then next week is Thanksgiving, can you believe it?!

I am very excited for the sale tonight, though I promised myself I would only buy 1 thing for myself and everything else has to be for others...but I'll let you know how that goes in tomorrows post :)

I was sad I couldn't get to the Pre-Warehouse Sale Preppy Blogger Dinner, but the pictures look fun and it looks like everyone had a great time. I am sure they are all still at the sale this morning as I type this!!

Anyways, have good Thursdays!

WHAT a weekend

Hi all,
Mr. Pit and I had a whirlwind weekend down in our Nations capital and I was SO glad that we decided to take yesterday as a vacation day.

Saturday I went to a bridal shower, which was followed by a dinner, a lingerie shower and then a bachelorette party, complete with a 20 person Hummer limo. I bailed before the first bar on account of being on my feet since 8am, and since it wasn't proper for me to imbibe on account of the little one. BUT, I had an awesome time with my college friends and was SO glad I made the trip down there. It was great to see everyone and I have never seen the future bride so happy in my life, what a treat :)

Sunday was filled with football and we started our Redskins tailgate at 9am, complete with breakfast, lunch AND dinner after the game. We hung out for 2 hours after the game to let the parking lot empty (which is totally brilliant by the way) and made it home in 2 and a half hours with no real issues. The game was great, our seats were really fun and again, hanging out with friends was my favorite part. We also got to see the Redskins win, which is a rarity this season!

Yesterday was spent sleeping, eating and doing all the things around the house we didn't get a chance to do since we weren't around all weekend. Mr. Pit and I had a great time just spending time together AND we got our Thanksgiving turkey for a whopping $5. Yep, $.29 a pound...so our 17 pound bird only cost us 5 freaking dollars! Wegmans people, WEGMANS. I love that place.

Now I'm back at work catching up on everything I missed from being out for training 2 days last week as well as yesterday, so I'm working it!

As for this week, um...LILLY Warehouse sale is Thursday and apparently NOTHING is over $100...HOLLA! I am so freaking excited. I love that sale, it makes me happy every year :)

Then this weekend I am finally getting my H1N1 vaccine and Mr. Pit is headed up to New England for the Patriots game on Sunday night. I will spend Sunday with the parents and I am very much looking forward to Thanksgiving the next week!

Hope everyone had great weekends!

xoxo Mrs. Pit

Oh, and a BIG shout out to DOG SITTER OF THE CENTURY, our friend A. What a lifesaver this girl is. Lil' Pup was SO calm and happy to see us, which is a sign that he had a great weekend and was a happy pup which is all we can ask for...oh, AND our house was freaking spotless, which is NOT how we left it! A, you're the best. You will be rewarded heavily!!

Furry Friday!

Welcome to Furry Friday! Meet Homer!!

Homer is a 6 year old Mastiff who really needs a home. Totally house trained, walked great on a leash, and so handsome!! His story from Main Line Animal Rescue is below, take a look and take this guy home...what a great early Thanksgiving present to yourself!!
Well, I was a mess when I arrived at Main Line Animal Rescue, no hair from years of bad infection, funny looking moles and just about the gruesomest dog you ever saw. Now I am a new man and ready for a new home. Handsome is just one of the words the volunteers use to describe me, and sweet and gentle and loving. I went from being an "untouchable" to one of the hot new dogs to walk and love....and they love me, they really love me!!! Now I'll just wait here and play with my new friends until you come and discover that I am a real dreamboy. Fully housetrained, easy to walk and won't give you a bit of trouble! I am healthy, happy and move in ready!

Doesn't he sound like a doll? I tell ya, if I lived on a 100 acre farm, ALL of these pups would come home with me!!

Mr. Pit and I are off to Washington, DC this weekend. I am going down for a bridal shower and bachelorette party and Mr. Pit is going to see a bunch of college friends. Then we're all going to the Redskins/Bronco's game on Sunday and taking Monday off to recover.

And then next week is the Lilly Sale! Since I already got my Hayward tunic I am really only on the search for the Saemus dress in my size, and maybe some things for Baby Pit...however, since we don't know if Baby Pit is a boy or a girl, I might have to buy some of everything! I can't expect my child to be born without a Lilly wardrobe now can I? Ha...don't worry, I am really only looking for a cute onesie or something, no dresses or anything older than a 6 month size, their kids stuff is just SO darn cute!!

Lilly Online Sale

Hi all,
I am assuming you all found out about the Lilly Online Sale in one way or another, and I have to say I made out like 1/2 a bandit.

I wanted two things. I wanted the Saemus Dress and the Hayward Tunic. Hayward Tunic purchased...Saemus Dress...well, all I can say is that I wish I were a size 6.

I am thrilled by my tunic though, and think I will pair it with black pants for Thanksgiving, how chic!!

I love it, don't you?

My Perfect Sale

Hi all!

I found an AWESOME website...My Perfect Sale. Seriously, best thing ever. You pick your brands and they send you what is on sale in that brand at every online store that carries it. They also give you codes for extra percentages off and things like free shipping.

I have my favorite 5 set to : Burberry, Kate Spade, Lilly Pulitzer, Ralph Lauren and Emilio Pucci. It's a bit much to read all at once, the emails you get once a day are CHOCK full of information on what's on sale, but you can narrow down so you just look at one brand at a time, and also what store (Bloomingdales, Saks, etc).

Click HERE to start and register...amazing!!

I am SO tempted to get some Lilly stuff from Bloomingdales (everything is an extra % off with the friends and family discount going on now) but I am making myself wait to get to the warehouse sale next week and if I can't find it there THEN I'm ordering :)

Scout Trunk Show- EXTENDED

Hi everyone!
So, the trunk show Saturday went well but I didn't get NEARLY as many people to come as I would have liked. Without M's help, I don't think I would have had ANYONE at all!

So, I am extending the show to tonight, from 6:30-9:30. The whole line is still at my house and ready to be picked at and prodded. Once you pick one of the bags or bins up it's love at first hold!

Again, if you want my address or you want an order form to send back to me, please email me at preppypitbull@gmail.com. If you order through me, before Wednesday the 11th, I can give you 10% off shipping and free gifts for any purchase over $100, pretty good deal huh? Plus, just by showing up you get a FREE Spirit Liftah (shown above) nice right?

I hope you all had good weekends, and hopefully I'll see you tonight!!

Welcome to Furry Friday!

Look at this pretty girl, and such a fitting name! Orchid is a Jindo and needs a home!!

Below is her write up from Main Line Animal Rescue, she sounds like a gem of a dog!!

Orchid is a Jindo - a breed that originated from South Korea. Orchid refuses to let her neglectful beginnings impact her life. She is a playful and loving gal. She really enjoys taking long walks with her volunteer buddies. She also enjoys her playtime running in our MLAR fields. Orchid would like to be the only flower in your domestic bouquet, however, as you watch her personlity bloom, you'll be perfectly content!

As always, check out Main Line Animal Rescue for more animals that need homes!

A dogs true nature...

I got this email from the American Humane Association, one of the many associations that I belong to that shows supports for pets across the nation. This email made me cry and smile at the same time, knowing that what Ella did, almost any dog would do, as that is their true nature, to protect and be part of a family.

Dog Builds ‘Nest’ From Injured Family’s Possessions
When Kathy, an animal shelter worker in Tennessee, spotted an emaciated Rottweiler along the side of a highway, she figured the dog was a stray or had been cruelly abandoned there.

But Kathy soon realized that there was something different about “Ella.” Ella was friendly and eager for attention -- behavior that is unusual for either a stray or an abused animal. She had clearly been loved by someone.

There were more clues in the wooded area just off the highway. Kathy discovered a “nest” where Ella had been sleeping. It was strewn with someone’s personal items, including a toothbrush, razor, comb and candle.

Then Kathy remembered something crucial. A few weeks earlier, a terrible car wreck had taken place on the highway…very close to where Ella had made her makeshift home.

Could Ella have been in the car? Was it possible that she had survived the crash and gathered the items thrown from her family’s car? Was she now loyally waiting for someone’s return?

Help Pets Separated From Suffering Families

Kathy’s hunch soon proved true. She contacted the state’s highway patrol authorities and learned that a single car had flipped over and landed on the side of the road near Ella’s “nest.” A family of five had been in the car. Some members had been hospitalized, but they all survived.

Rescuers had never seen Ella, who had likely been thrown from the car. The dog foraged on her own for a few weeks, drinking from a drainage ditch and patiently waiting for beloved family members who thought their special pet was dead!

American Humane stepped in when we learned that the family’s medical bills had caused tremendous financial strain. Unfortunately, the family had moved to a home that did not allow pets. We provided a critical grant to Kathy’s animal shelter to help fund Ella’s care.

Though unable to bring Ella back into their home at this time, the family was thrilled to see her and hopes to be reunited for good in the future. Meanwhile, Ella is living safely and comfortably in a loving foster home.

I mean, what a story right? Isn't that amazing?! She was just waiting so patiently for her family to come back...it just breaks my heart, but I love that she is happy and healthy and hopefully will eventually make it back to her family.

Hope everyone is having a good week, I'm getting a little beat up at work lately, but I'm working through it and trying to be tough.

Oh yeah, and the Scout Trunk Show is this weekend, email me if you want directions!! preppypitbull@gmail.com

Owners, Not Pit Bulls, Are the Problem...

This is an exerpt from an amazing article yesterday in Newsweek.

Click HERE to view the whole article...

I've seen those who adopt these dogs for all the wrong reasons. The fearful might get a pit because they want a great guard dog. (Pits make lousy guard dogs. A well-bred pit is just too human-friendly to protect your property.) Some get a pit because Rachael Ray has one and they want to rescue a dog. (Why didn't you take up cooking instead of getting a dog that you know nothing about?) And the trendiest pet owners spend thousands of dollars for a "blue" pit because the dogs are rare. (No, they aren't, and you just got swindled by an unethical breeder who contributed to the overpopulation problem.) But pets aren't purses, and people who jump into pit-bull ownership without the requisite training and education can often do more harm than good.

Did you read that people???..."A well-bred pit is just too human-friendly to protect your property"...I have been saying this all along! Lil' Pup would seriously LICK someone to death before ever biting them or making them feel at all out of place...BEST.DOG.EVER...worst watch dog in the world.

Pits are NOT bad dogs. NO dog is a bad dog. There are only bad owners who dont' know how to properly care for their animal and aren't aware enough of their breed and temperament to be good parents. Later in the article they say not to bring a pit to an open dog park, mostly because if there is a scuffle, the pit will get blamed no matter who started it. AMEN. We never bring Lil' Pup to the park, and we've even stopped walking him on the walking path because we just get too many negative reactions, even though he doesn't DO anything wrong! But, it's all in his 'ferocious' look, and well, we can't do anything about that. I think he looks sweet, but then again, I'm not the majority and I am his biased mother.

Just thought it was a great article on the bad rap that these poor puppies get.

What I'm thinking...

For the babies crib...
This is my inspiration, but I will not buy this crib. First, I don't want to pay $700 for anything, much less a crib my child will use for 2 years. Second, it costs more than our bed did...Third, it's gorgeous and I love the look, but it doesn't get great safety ratings and isnt' recommended in Baby Bargains- my go-to baby product book. (Pottery Barn Kids Madison Crib, $699)

So, with that in mind, this crib seems like a good idea...it has the same 'look', is good for a baby boy or girl, and is MUCH more affordable...what do you think? (Carters Casual Convertible Crib from Babies R Us for $219)It doesn't have the curved top, but I really like the look and clean lines. Not too architectural, still classic, and most importantly, safe!!

I'm also obsessed with the stripes in the Pottery Barn nursery, but I also love the yellow color that the guest room/future nursery has now, so I don't think we'll be striping it up anytime soon.

Any recommendations for cribs or other baby furniture are welcome! I am not buying anything until after Christmas at the earliest, but it certainly is fun to look :)

Hope you all had great Halloweens! We had a great time at M's party and I'm really looking forward to the Scout Home Show this weekend, email me at Preppypitbull@gmail.com if you want an invite and directions to my house :) :)
