So, last night wasn't half as bad as I thought, and I was on my couch watching Grey's with Lil' Pup before I knew it.
The state of my company isn't great (I don't know who's business is thriving at the moment, but I hope there are folks out there) and it doesn't look good until the market turns around and the economy gets on track. Since my company is in very large commercial construction the money has really frozen up, we have had to stop projects mid-stride, which really really hurts. We have to wait until the money starts to flow again to get our big projects back out on the table. Until that happens we have to continue trimming expenses any way we can, including more layoffs.
As I said before, I think I am relatively safe based on what I do and how I do it (well, if I do say so myself) but you never know. What I do is not unique in my unit, nor am I the most experienced, so there is always a fear in the back of my head...but all I can do is do my job the best I can and keep my chin up.
After last nights meeting there was food and an open bar (I think they knew it would be a rough meeting) and I stayed until 7:30 chatting with friends that don't work in the office and then headed home with a ride with my friend R.
Today is really busy at work with a really big bid for a really big client that is due at 3. Then I have to finish up other work, head home to shower and then we have a big pasta dinner at the club tonight with friends.
Then tomorrow I am doing the altar decorations at church for Sunday's service, and then I think we'll head out to Valley Forge for a long walk with Lil' Pup on his 50 foot lead. That way he can wander and chase things while we stay on the path and he doesn't run away. Lil' Pup is good at a lot of things, but staying with us on a walk is not one of them. Prone to run after (away) anything that moves, he can't be off a leash ever. Not the best situation ever, but one that we have learned to deal with over time. Otherwise he's a great dog and I can't fault him for being poorly trained as a puppy, as we don't even know where he was prior to being rescued by Main Line Animal Rescue in 2006.
Anyways, stay tuned for Furry Friday!
Have a great weekend!
xoxo Mrs. Pit

Do I need a new coat? It's certainly cold enough!
Afternoon Pit Fans,
It is a balmy 24 degrees out today in the City of Brotherly Love, and waiting for the R5 today certainly gave me pause for ever again exclaiming that I like winter. This is false. Today, I did not heart winter, in fact, I hated every second of every minute that I was out of my car waiting for the perpetually late 7:14am train from St. Davids.
What astounded me even more than my revelation that I am in fact a summer person, was the fact that everyone else at the station was WAY less dressed than I was and knowingly left the house like that! There was even a man talking about how cold it was (he said his car read 12 degrees, as did mine) and yet was standing there in a trench coat (maybe it was lined, but still!) no hat, no gloves AND no scarf! What is wrong with people? Do you think that makes you tough to be out in the freezing cold with nothing protecting you? I know I may look kind of doofy in my big down coat, but I bet I was warmer than all the idiots on the platform with me.

Anyways, enough of that rant...on to the fun stuff. I saw this coat online today and not only is it TDF, but also on sale, yippee! I think Mr. Pit might yell if I come home with one more closet busting piece of outerwear, but honestly, how cute is this?! I could wear it to the PSPCA benefit we are going to tomorrow night...but alas, even if I ordered it right this moment I am not sure it would get here on time. That's ok though, I do have enough coats to last me a life time, and since we will have spring-like weather this weekend I am hoping I can put my big down coat into seasonal retirement sooner rather than later.
Oh, and to double up on the irony, we leave for our ski vacation in Breckenridge in 3 weeks and 2 days, yippee!
Have a great evening!
xoxo Mrs. Pit
p.s I am SO excited for the double episode of Greys and Private Practice tonight, yay!

TV addictions and my plans for tonight
WOO HOO! Its back on in T-7 hours and I couldn't be more excited. Among the many things I am absolutely obsessed with is my television viewing schedule which includes the fabulously addictive Grey's Anatomy. I can't get enough of the Mer-Der drama and I always look forward to whatever is upsetting Izzie in any given week. Plus, take the two Mc-Yummy doctors and you've got yourself one hell of a show.Among my other favs are (in no particular order):

Gossip Girl, even though I know it's aimed at a demographic 10 years younger than I, I still can't get enough of all the snarka-rific comments that can only come from a private school. I thought my school was bad back in the 90's, but oh no, Serena and Blair have this place ALL figured out, and if they don't rule the school, no one will. I especially liked in this past week's episode the slow Reservoir Dog-esque montage of Serena and her followers coming into the court yard...HOLLA! That was so bad ass! (And I really did scream out loud at the television afterwards, scaring the sleeping little pup up from his nap and prompting Mr. Pit to ask if something was wrong from downstairs. "Nothing wrong, just loving Gossip Girl this week!")

Project Runway, though I am the farthest thing from fashion forward, I adore this show and I can actually get Mr. Pit to watch it with me because of the lovely Heidi Klum. Last nights episode was a weird one (really, its season 5 and that's all they could come up with?) but I liked some of the outfits. Jarell's "pop" outfit for Kenley was fierce (I miss you Christian!) but her outfit for Leann was a travesty. To quote my very own lovely mother "Did she fall off a turnip truck"? How on earth did Kenley think that outfit was in any way shape or form "hip hop"? Even LL Cool J thought it was pathetic...and no Kenley, crying won't get you anywhere. High waisted pants for hip-hop? Come on!! Even this preppy follower knows you can't get away with a Lilly Dress if you're trying to look legitimate while listening to Lil' Kim!
The Office: How can you not adore this show? It makes me laugh out loud at every episode (my favorite being the one where Jim comes to work dressed like Dwight and says all these Dwight-isms and makes Dwight go crazy, too funny)
And last but not least: BONES. I totally think that some of the body parts stuff is gratuitous and I am a total squeamish baby when it comes to that, but I adore the banter between Bones and Booth (I especially like the name Seely...what do you think for a potential "little Pit" name Mr. Pit? hee hee, just kidding, but I do really like it!)I don't want to say anymore because I don't want people to think that all I do is watch TV, I swear I get out of the house on a regular basis! But, I love my shows and I can't wait for the premiers tonight!!
