What I'm thinking...

For the babies crib...
This is my inspiration, but I will not buy this crib. First, I don't want to pay $700 for anything, much less a crib my child will use for 2 years. Second, it costs more than our bed did...Third, it's gorgeous and I love the look, but it doesn't get great safety ratings and isnt' recommended in Baby Bargains- my go-to baby product book. (Pottery Barn Kids Madison Crib, $699)

So, with that in mind, this crib seems like a good idea...it has the same 'look', is good for a baby boy or girl, and is MUCH more affordable...what do you think? (Carters Casual Convertible Crib from Babies R Us for $219)It doesn't have the curved top, but I really like the look and clean lines. Not too architectural, still classic, and most importantly, safe!!

I'm also obsessed with the stripes in the Pottery Barn nursery, but I also love the yellow color that the guest room/future nursery has now, so I don't think we'll be striping it up anytime soon.

Any recommendations for cribs or other baby furniture are welcome! I am not buying anything until after Christmas at the earliest, but it certainly is fun to look :)

Furry Friday!

Hi all, welcome to Furry Friday!

Meet Sissy!
Sissy is a 2 year old lab mix who was rescued in downtown Philly. She loves to run and play and would be a great addition to your family!

"Sissy is a gentle lab mix who was rescued from the streets of Philadelphia. When she first came to us she was very skinny and very scared - she didn't have an easy life you could tell. But thanks to the patience of the volunteers and staff, she has come out of her shell already and learned to trust humans again. She now walks proudly around the farm with her head held high and her tail up. It was a wonderful transformation to watch and to see how resilient dogs truly are. She is a young girl, maybe 2 years old, and when she gets in the field you realize her age since she runs SO fast and all over the fields. She is such fun to watch! If you'd like to continue on with the progress we've made with Sissy please fill out an application and come meet this cute girl!"

In other news, it's really gross and yucky in Philly today, my car thermometer said 37 when I was driving into work...and it's pouring rain and will be that way for the next 2 days. This is the kind of day that I just want to curl up on the couch and do a whole lot of nothing! But, alas, a whole work day is in front of me, oh well!

And to answer a question posed from yesterday, we are NOT finding out the babies gender. As curious as we are, we really want to hold out until the day off and then we'll name the baby that day as well. That way we don't have to discuss the name or gender with people for the next 6 months.

Mr. Pit and I have a completely open weekend this weekend and I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow and get a lot of stuff done around the house. I think I have about 2 weeks of mail to go through as well as getting our winter/cold weather clothes down from the attic.

Here's the news!

A drumroll please...

I am 3 months pregnant with our first baby!

Mr. Pit and I saw the baby this morning on an ultrasound and it was no less than incredible. I cried, and I think I even saw a tear from Mr. Pit himself. It was amazing to see this little tiny person! We saw arms and legs and fingers and toes and the baby was moving all around, jumping, bouncing, sucking it's thumb...totally unbelievable. Everything measured healthy and we couldn't have had a nicer ultrasound technician. She got us some great pictures, which I can't download here because they are now PDF's, but I will try to get them converted to jpegs so I can show them to you.

The ultrasound technician measured the babys head, and the nuchal fold (a skin flap at the back of the babies neck) as well as the crown-t0-rump and when my doctor gets that info this afternoon it will confirm our due date. Right now the doctor thinks it is between the 30th of April and the 1st of May, so these measurements will tell us which side of Aries or Taurus the baby will be :)

We are really really excited and happy and are looking forward to the next 6 months to get the house ready as well as ME ready for this whole delivery thing!

My other news is regarding my ALL TIME favorite brand of SCOUT by Bungalow, but I don't really have anything to confirm yet, but hopefully there is another trunk show or two in the works as well as some online fun as well. I was down in DC earlier this week to hash it all out so that was that fun adventure!

Hope all is well with you all, the weather is yucky here in Philly and will be for the next 4 days (gotta love NorEasters!) but it's all sunny and happy in my head :) :)

WAY ahead of myself

I know I'm way ahead of myself...but since we get the Pottery Barn Catalog, we get the Pottery Barn KIDS catalog...and I couldn't help but go through it and find that they now have Peter Rabbit bedding.

It's like they were listening to my little inside voice WISHING that someone would design this and I wouldn't have to pay hundreds of dollars to get this stuff from England (apparently they carry it at Harrod's exclusively).

So, while I am NOT pregnant yet, I really really want to buy this just in case they sell out or don't make it by the time I am...is that crazy...YES. Would I do it anyway...of course. But, Mr. Pit won't let me. Darn logic.

Oh, and I want a white crib, not a dark brown and our walls will be yellow not white and green...but hello, super cute!

This is when being a Virgo and planning EVERYTHING gets tough!!

AND I want this...but instead of the animals in the middle I want the name of our baby just like in the catalog (craft store, here I come!)

And don't worry, I was exactly like this for our wedding too (I had collected torn out pages of wedding magazines for YEARS) so Mr. Pit knows this is coming and he smiles and says 'whatever you want dear' like a good husband should. (Though this still doesn't green light me for buying anything, it does leave me hopeful that he won't object TOO much when the appropriate time comes either :)

Here comes the sun...

YAY! It is FINALLY sunny in Philadelphia!

Of course that lead to some AWESOME traffic this morning with people figuring out that they can indeed accelerate through sun glare...and then an accident near Penn didn't help either, but I got here on time regardless.

Anyways, today is a short day at the jobsite due to elevator training at another jobsite starting at 2...that's right...elevator training...you're jealous of my job right now aren't you?! ha.

I might actually join the gym tonight too...though I've been saying that for 3.5 months now and it hasn't happened, we'll have to see. We also just got a new Wii game (Shaun White Snowboarding) and it is yet to be played by me, so that might have to work its way in to the nightly activities as well.

In bigger news...I got the Lilly catalog last night and I want to order EVERY single item, no joke.

I also saw that they now have a diaper bag. I told Mr. Pit that it was really cute and how adorable it would be to get that when we have kids...his response "well, let's have kids so you can get it!"...I mean, seriously, do I have the cutest husband ever? I will let you know if the diaper bag desire leads to anything else...as of now I am still overwhelmed at the thought of it, but it certainly is appealing! (not the bag, the kid part...I'm not THAT shallow!)

So...I got distracted

So...While stalking the internet for wedding web-pages and registries to weddings I won't be invited to (this is one of my fun games, I LOVE looking at what people register for!)...I found that Restoration Hardware does baby and kid furniture.

Then, my Virgo-ness kicked in (we LOVE to plan) and I started looking at furniture options for our future child (no, not pregnant, but I love to think about it) and this is what I found. Isn't the pink and brown and white adorable? My mom HATES brown so this obviously isn't the final choice, and by the time we get to having kids and much less having a girl...I am sure this color combo won't even be popular...but still.

Talk about a tangent! Anyways...here is my thought...Lilly Baby...who's with me? I could design the world's CUTEST pink and green room!!
