Dilemma

Hi guys,
So I have a dilemma for you, well, not really a dilemma, but I have been thinking about it.

My birthday is in 2 weeks, yahoo! However, I can't think of anything I want besides running shoes (and I already sent Mr. Pit the link via Zappos, hee hee!)

Anyways, so as always I was thinking of things that Little Pit might need in the future, and it got me to thinking about strollers.

We have one of these, an Uppa Baby Vista. It's awesome. I have used it almost every day for the last 16 months. However, it's getting tiresome to get it in and out of the car, and I seem to be using it less and less.

So then I was thinking about getting one of these...a G-Lite, or a G-Luxe (the Luxe reclines and the Lite does not)...is it worth it to have another stroller? Do I need the recline?

Help!

Also, the Lite is only 8 lbs...that's WAY less than the Vista (which I believe weighs close to 20!)...but will I use it? Or should I just get a free with purchase umbrella stroller from Babies R Us when they run that special? Ugh, I need guidance!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Little Pit just woke up from her nap, so I'm out!

Sometimes...

I can't help it. I think my daughter is really stinking cute.

So I'm showing off pictures of her in Lake Placid and on Winnepesaukee.
Inspecting the rough around the 9th hole at the club. She deemed it playable. Phew!

Sitting pretty on the steps before dinner.

Eating a peach at the freestyle show in Lake Placid. She refused to be held so she sat on the ground in protest. One of the many perks of having a toddler...

On Daddy's back at the top of Whiteface Mountain. It was 82 at the base, 64 at the top. Brrr!! (That's my father in law in the background...doesn't he look just like Santa Claus? I love it)

That's all I have for now, we didn't take as many pictures as I thought we would, and we have a whole lot like this

Don't get me wrong, the freestyle show was AWESOME, except I'm not exactly going to frame a picture of a junior olympian that I don't know (sorry junior olympians you are still amazing!)

I might have something REALLY big in store next week as well, but it's 100% pending at this time, so I'll let you know. And no, Little Pit will not be a big sister, get your head out of the gutter!

MORE thanks to Up North Preppy!

The lovely AEOT at Up North Preppy posted a new kids shopping site today called TOTSY and posted the exact dresses I was considering for Little Pit for her birthday...brilliant.

Since the price was SO good I got her 2 dresses in two different color ways...and I am SO pleased. Not sure which one she'll wear for her big 1st Birthday celebration, but either way she'll be stinking cute!

Thanks again to AEOT who always has the BEST ideas :)

Oh, and these are the colors I purchased, yahoo!

Pretty sure I will get both of them monogrammed in pink, and I am leaning towards the navy, white and pink for her birthday, but we'll have to see how the weather is...come on spring!!

Hope everyone had a great week, thank goodness it's Friday :)

Have a great weekend,
xoxo Mrs. Pit

Back to work

So, I have to go back to work in a month and I am already losing sleep over it, and the mere thought of leaving Little Pit with someone for the day either at our house or in a daycare makes me sick to my stomach.

Both Mr. Pit and I wanted to see if we could swing it financially if I didn't go back to work at all, and my work was generous enough to let me take an extra 3 months to be home with Little Pit (unpaid of course). In this time we have realized that it is a lot harder than we thought it would be to live off one income. We didn't do so well paring down our spending, even though I haven't bought clothes for myself or Little Pit, I have bought shoes, and things like diapers, wipes, and other baby things don't just arrive for free at your doorstep. We also are eating at home more, but still have date night once every 2 weeks, as well as other nights out with friends or getting take out, so our food dollars haven't gone as far as we'd like them to either.

Secondly, being home during the day and noticing things around the house that should be fixed, updated, replaced or improved upon has become a slight obsession of mine. In the 5 months of being home I have come up with the following projects.

1. Buy a new TV Console since the table the TV is on now is tippy and has a glass top, a major no-no for an almost crawler/puller-upper/walker.

2. Redo the front walkway. This all started because I don't have enough room to open the door to get Little Pit and her car seat out of the back of the car and up onto the sidewalk easily. Then it turned into re-doing the stairs and the walkway. Then I thought it would be nice to have a little retaining wall go up the driveway. Two $7,000 estimates later Mr. Pit told me to shove it.

3. Redo the back deck. We didn't take very good care of our wood deck for the past 3 years and no we either have to get it cleaned and re-sealed or torn up and redone. This was also a multi-thousand dollar project where I was also told I was out of my mind.

4. Redo the bathroom. We only have 1 full bathroom in our house and it's small, really small. So small that I get in a fight with Mr. Pit almost every night because there isn't enough room in there to brush our teeth and get ready for bed at the same time. I want to expand out into the hallway, rip out the linen closet and make the whole thing bigger. Mr. Pit won't even let me call a contractor for that one because he knows it will be too expensive to do.

5. Put on a master bedroom addition. This is actually ludicrous enough to make Mr. Pit laugh out loud.

Do you see how my brain has WAY too much time to process all these things, and how they go from a few hundred dollars to multiple thousands?! Mr. Pit thinks this is a good reason to go back to work.

So I got a bit off tangent, but the point is I have to go back to work. Not even to pay for all the things I listed above, but to literally pay our bills and keep up with the lifestyle we had pre baby. It's not like we were out partying and buying crazy stuff, but we were active and out and about and though we don't get out as often, we'd still like to be able to pay for it when we do get the time.

The 2nd, or 80th point, whatever, of this post is that it will break my heart to leave her but I know I have to. I know it will be harder for me than it will be for her, and that both of us will benefit from it in the end. I certainly am not permanently scarred from my Mother working when I was young, I actually have nothing but happy childhood memories of preschool and baby sitters and whoever I was around.

Someone tell me I will get through it...how am I supposed to leave this face!?

My own birthday present...

So, every year I buy at least one gift for myself for my birthday. I don't plan it like that, but it's normally something small-ish and something I haven't asked anyone for, so I just treat myself :)

This year it was Ugg sneakers. They just came in the mail today and I've been wearing them from the moment I opened the package. I love them, they are as comfortable as they are cute, and I see myself getting a LOT of wear out of them this fall :)

They were also on sale from Nordstrom, and I got wind of it through my email account with "Shop It To Me" and I got a rebate with e-bates...talk about awesome!!

Here they are, do you like them??

Other than that, Little Pit is playing on her playmat (She LOVES to look at herself in the mirror that hangs down from the center) and I am enjoying this awesome weather!!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Time to get judgy...

So, I'm pretty on top of what is available in terms of baby fashion for girls. I know what I like, and what I want Little Pit dressed in depending on the occasion.

I don't believe in spending a ton of money on clothes she will most likely grow out of in months maybe weeks, but I, like everyone else can't say no to some things. My ONE splurge for her is Lilly stuff, and she actually got a LOT of wear out of her little dresses this summer thank goodness.

Anyways, onto the judging.

Baby Gap has SKINNY JEANS for babies. Let me say it again. SKINNY JEANS.

Sorry, but I don't think it's appropriate OR ok for fashion to be shoved down babies throats...they are babies for crying out loud. SKINNY JEANS? Are you kidding Baby Gap? Do you really think I am worried about showing off my baby girls legs or butt? Um no. And I'll tell you another thing, if she thinks she is wearing skinny jeans before she is a teenager, she's out of her ever loving mind.

Here are the offenders...and to top it off they are $25!! You think I'm going to buy my BABY $25 pants that she will out grow by December? Um, NO.

Sorry Baby Gap, you crossed the line on this one. I can accept all the onesies with the craptastic writing on it (though I won't let Little Pit wear it), but the Skinny Jeans had me turn on my heels and walk out of there as fast as I could.

Ok, rant over...hope you all are enjoying the weekend!

I'm here I'm here!

Sorry for the lack of posts, it's amazing how an 8 pound being can be so darn time consuming! We are surviving though, and the little miss is up to a whopping 8 pounds, 2 ounces...she's gaining pretty slowly, but gaining nonetheless. She is sleeping ok at night, she is a very good little alarm clock, going off consistently at 3 hour intervals, but the doctor assured me she would start sleeping better in a week or two when her tummy gets a bit bigger. She is 1 month old today and I can't believe how fast the time has gone! I have been able to get out and about though, Mr. Pit babysat last weekend and allowed me to get a mani/pedi, and since she loves the car I have been able to meet people for lunch and errands, so that has been great as well!

I do of course have another reason for this post...as this might be the CUTEST thing I have EVER heard of, and I am SO sad that I don't live in this town in Florida...I think I would go EVERY week for sure! Little Pup would hate that I came home smelling of other dogs every week but there is NOTHING like playing with a puppy!!

Here is the scoop, at the Southeast Guide Dog school, the puppies are let go to play with the public for a few hours every day. This is so that the puppies can interact with people of all ages, abilities, tones of voices and everything else that makes every person different. The puppies have to be able to work with anyone they are assigned to, and the more comfortable they are with all different kinds of people from the start, the better.

You can show up every morning at 9am and they let all the dogs out to play with whomever is there. You can snuggle them, play with them, walk them around, whatever you want, they encourage all kinds of interaction. HOW cool is that? You can read the article HERE ...seriously SO adorable!!!

Anyways, that's about all that's going on, I'll do my best to do a Furry Friday post tomorrow but I have to go out to the mall and we are going to dinner at the club (it's lobster night, yum!!) I'll try though :)

I hope all is well with everyone, and here's a gratuitous baby picture just for fun :)

Have a great weekend!

Introducing...

Miss Little Pit :)
She was born at 8:35 am yesterday, weighing in at 7lbs, 7 oz and 21 1/2 inches long.

She has a full head of blonde hair which the nurses here just gush over. Every time they bring her into us they say "this is the baby with the beautiful hair, we love her!" and of course, Mr. Pit and I are madly in love with her as well. She makes the cutest little bird noises, but the girl has some pipes and will let you know pretty quickly when she's not a happy camper. For the most part though she has been very sleepy but was quick to nurse and by the late afternoon we had gotten the hang of things thanks to help from the nurses.

I was very lucky labor wise since it only lasted 10 hours, but boy oh boy, I can see why people wait years between kids! It was an amazing experience and I am still in awe that my body could even make a baby and then to deliver it to boot is just insane, but an amazing happy wonderful insane :)

I believe I get discharged tomorrow (Thursday) and will post more pictures when I get more, but for now, here are a few of our newest love :)

Mr. Pit and his daughter...he is really amazing with her, just like I knew he would be!
The little miss with her shocking blonde locks...doesn't she look like a little surfer girl? Too funny :)

Have a great week!

The last Monday...

Hi folks,
Last Friday was supposed to be my last day at work, but I got talked into working this week since Little Pit doesn't seem to be making any moves to vacate the premises. So, here I am.

Mr. Pit and I had a great weekend, the lacrosse tournament was great, and Katie herself told me yesterday that they had record breaking attendance this year, yahoo!! I was lucky enough to see Katie play wheelchair rugby during the tournament, and then spend the afternoon with her at our friend K's baby shower yesterday.

Saturday night we headed down to the Palm for dinner with my whole family to celebrate my Mom's birthday and we had a wonderful time. The waiter was awful but the bus boys made up for it and the food was fabulous as always. They are definitely getting an email from me regarding the service though, our waiter COMPLETELY disappeared on us after our dinner was served, and we didn't see him for almost an HOUR, grrr. Anyways, we still had fun since that's what we do, but I was disappointed that it wasn't better for my Mom.

The baby shower yesterday was great, K and baby M got LOTS of great gifts and super cute clothes. I also had a great time catching up with friend I hadn't seen in awhile, and K's twin sister M had us all decorate white onesies with fabric pens...such a cute idea! The food was also fabulous and always appreciated by yours truly :)

Then we went to dinner with Mr. Pit's parents at Theresa's Next Door and it was SO yummy. I took FULL advantage of the 1/2 price cheese special they do on Sunday's as well as some yummy potato leek soup and the steak salad...delicious!

Then it was home to watch Amazing Race and River Monsters (a new favorite, last nights episode was about Alligator Gar...scary!!)

And that was our weekend in a nutshell. At no point during the weekend did I get one twinge or feeling that Little Pit was coming early, so we'll wait patiently until the official due date of the 30th and see what happens then!

This week is pretty quiet for me, but pretty busy for Mr. Pit work wise and school wise, but we'll do our best to enjoy our last official week of being a family of 2!

Have a great week!

Furry Friday!

Hi all,
Sorry for the late post, work has been crazy! But now I present: FUDGE!!I may have posted him before, and maybe it's just my pregnancy craving for chocolate, but I couldn't resist this guy. I mean, how many people go to great lengths to get a pure bred chocolate lab and here you have one, for free! Who also really needs a good home! A win win? I think so :)

Here is his write up:
It has been said that there are basically two types of Labrador Retrievers; Food Labs and Ball Labs. Fudge is definitely a Ball Lab. He will play catch with you all day if your arm holds out. His energy is boundless and his enthusiasm will bring a smile to your face. He's not all play; he has good manners also. He will sit on command and give you his paws, as long as you promise to play ball afterwards. He's strong and energetic, and will require a firm hand, but he will make somebody a playful and loving companion.

So come on, it will be a gorgeous weekend and you can take him to the Katie Sampson Lacrosse Festival this weekend and show him off!!

Mr. Pit and I are headed to the lacrosse tournament to see my old Alma mater play and watch my younger brother coach- GO SHIPLEY!!

Then we're doing some last minute Little Pit errands and then going out to dinner for my Mom's birthday at The Palm, yum!!

Then I have my friend K's baby shower on Sunday and Mr. Pit's parents are coming down for dinner on Sunday night, so it will be a busy and fun weekend.

Have a great weekend!

Yesterday...

Yesterday I was sent on a field trip for work, to Havover, PA where they make Snyder's of Hanover Pretzels. Unfortunately, I didn't have to go do quality control on pretzels, rather precast concrete pavers...oh the life!

I spent a LOT of time in the car, but I did manage to drive past all the outlets in Lancaster on the way back as well as a stop at the Snyder's Factory for some super fresh pretzels at a discount.

I got a baby shower present AND a engagement party present in 1 stop (Pottery Barn Outlet) and I felt so accomplished and happy I took the slow way home (Route 30 all the way East as opposed to the Turnpike).

In updated baby news, no update. I am the exact same condition I was last week, which basically means that Little Pit is still pretty cozy and not making any big moves to meet the world any sooner than scheduled (9 days!) This is fine with me, if this child is ANYTHING like me it will be ALL about them and when they are ready to come out...however, as parents we are VERY much looking forward to meeting him or her, so come out anytime, really, we're ready! (We think!)

And this is random, but really fitting for how I feel now as well. I have to say how proud I am of my husband. He has been NOTHING but 100% supportive of me and Little Pit this entire pregnancy as well as our entire marriage (and as long as I have known him), all while juggling a full time job and getting his MBA in all of his 'spare time'. He is going to be done with his MBA work in June and I can't even put into words how amazing he is to get everything done and still have time to make me S'Mores while watching Glee and tuck me in at night so he can go back down stairs to study and write tons of papers while I sleep. He works SO SO SO hard and is just such an amazing husband and will be SUCH an amazing father I can't wait :)

Have a great Wednesday!

Progress

So, I had my 37/38 week appointment today, and it's official...progress has been made!

It's not a lot, but it's progress nonetheless. The nurse told me she might see me next week for my next regular appointment, or she could see me sooner if things happen faster. Basically, as far along as I am right now, I could stay this way for the next 2-3 weeks with nothing happening, or I could have a baby in the next 24 hours depending on what my body and the baby decide...isn't that nutty?!

I don't feel any contractions as of now though, a little tightness here and there, but nothing drastically different than anything I've felt the last few weeks...but I'll keep you updated I promise!

I have a feeling that Little Pit is pretty comfy where he/she is at the moment, and as well as I think I know my body, the nurse reiterated that anything can happen and I should be ready for it.

EEK!!

In other news, we finally finished the nursery this weekend as well, all the shelves are hung, the books are in place, diapers are ready and well...all we need now is a baby Pit!! I will post pictures tomorrow of the finished product, I am quite proud of Mr. Pit and I (and my awesome brothers) for getting everything together.

Hope everyone has great weeks!

xoxo Mrs. Pit

Furry Friday- BROTHERS!!

GAH!!! These puppies are too freaking cute for words, and the fact that they haven't been adopted out yet ASTOUNDS me...look at these guys! This is Backswing and Backspin and they are some of the newer residents of Main Line Animal Rescue.

They are a mere 5 months old and are a mix of St. Bernard and something equally adorable.

Could you imagine the fun you would have with these two in your house?! TOTALLY my dream dogs (did I just type that?! Sorry Little Pup!)

It will take ALL my will power (and the knowledge that Little Pit is due to arrive in 21 scant days) to NOT pick up these cute puppies this weekend, but YOU totally should!!!

Just click HERE to find out more info on these two and lots of other dogs and cats that need homes from Main Line Animal Rescue.

Mr. Pit and I have some really fun plans this weekend, first is dinner at Flemings tonight with 2 sets of friends, and then my BFF's engagement party is Saturday night!! Sunday looks like it is going to be nice and relaxed, and we are really looking forward to it.

I also just realized that I only have 2 more weeks of work left before Little Pit comes! I am taking the last week of April off as vacation because I am terrified to go into labor at work and feel like I should be home resting and getting last minute things done. Then we'll just have to see if the little one comes on time or not :)

I hope you all have great weekends!

xoxo Mrs. Pit

Weekend Recap

Hi all, it's a bit yucky here in the City of Brotherly love weather wise, but we had a great weekend, so this Monday is a good one no matter what. I have a lot to update you on, so I'm just gonna bullet point it out so it doesn't take pages and pages :)

1. Had an awesome time with my friend P visiting. We went out to a fun lunch, and even better dinner and a delicious diner breakfast yesterday. He was the easiest house guest ever, even asking permission to shower...um...of course you can!! It was great to catch up with him in person (he works half the year in Nigeria!) so seeing him was way better than emailing and talking on the phone. PLUS, I am so lucky that he and Mr. Pit get along so well and they had a great time watching basketball all afternoon on Saturday (I watched too but have no clue about anything so I am glad he could banter on with someone!)

2. Speaking of basketball, I am totally out of the running in my two March Madness pools. I had Syracuse/Baylor in the final. 'Cuse let me down last week and Baylor sucked it last night. Thanks boys. Mr. Pit still has a chance to be tied for 4th, so I think that works out to a little bit of cash if Duke loses next week. Here's hoping!

3. We went to Babies R Us on Saturday and I managed to get in and out without having a panic attack, yay! I find that store incredibly overwhelming and since Little Pit can't tell me what they will want or need, we need to just go around the store and guess at things. We did end up with a lot of great stuff though, and my awesome brother came over to install the baby gate at the top of the stairs and it's exactly what we needed and fits perfectly. Little Pup is NOT a fan since he is now essentially not allowed upstairs, but such is life when you're a dog.

4. My awesome brother also managed to fix the door to Little Pit's room so now it closes fully and can't be nudged open by curious little pitbulls. (Reason #2 for the baby gate at the top of the stairs). The door didn't latch properly for almost 3 full years, see, all it takes is having a baby and you get all sorts of chores done!)

5. We also managed to find a leak in our bathroom that is coming down through the basement of the ceiling. Good times.

6. Some awesome news...as of right now the weather forecast for Easter is 79 and mostly sunny. If this isn't the best news I've heard in ages, I don't know what is. I have the CUTEST Lilly dress that I want to wear on Easter, and since the past few Easters have been sunny but COLD, this would just take the cake. We always go to our golf club for lunch and they have an awesome open patio and it would just be SO amazing to be able to sit in the sun and eat yummy food and relax as opposed to stand inside and watch the egg hunt next to a space heater like last year. And then NEXT year we can bring Little Pit to go egg hunting, how fun will that be?! So, hoping the forecast holds out and is correct...come on weather!!

That's about it for the recap, I will have nursery pics and belly pics later on this week, the nursery is really coming together, I love it!!

What a weekend!

This past weekend was one of those weekends where it's almost unbelievable how great it was, and what made it great was about 100 different things coming together and aligning perfectly.

The baby shower that my mother in law threw for us was totally perfect. It was a gorgeous day weather wise, the food was fantastic, the company was great, the gifts were SO generous and plentiful and to talk to SO many people about how excited they are for our first child is just overwhelming. Both sets of Grandparents are really looking forward to getting to meet their first Grandchild, and Mr. Pit and I are all geared up to welcome Little Pit home.

The nursery is still just a room full of bags and boxes, but we're getting there in terms of what we need, and we picked up the crib mattress yesterday, so that is a huge thing now crossed off our list, horray! We are hoping over Easter weekend we can get a lot of things organized and put away, and I know we'll get it all done on time. Mr. Pit and I BOTH think that Little Pit is going to make an early arrival, and I can't say how I think that, I just have a feeling that this one is going to be ready to meet the world before the 30th of April (they are my child after all, I think it's pretty fitting, I've never been known to be one for the patience-gene!)

Anyways, it was a great weekend, my parents had a great time seeing my in-laws house for the first time (they have only met about 8 times in 7 years, and once was our wedding) but it was great, everyone gets along really well and it was a really really nice time overall.

We had a great ride down as well, no traffic to speak of, and we got home and got all our errands done in record time!

Now all I have to figure out is how to get home in time to change and make it to yoga by 6...I think a 4:30 departure from work is all that's going to get me there with this weather, so fingers crossed!

Hope everyone had a great weekend too!

xoxo Mrs. Pit

Before and After...the Nursery!

Hi everyone,
It was a great and busy weekend in the Pit house, and we got everything we wanted to get done completed, even in the pouring rain of Saturday.

The guest room bed, dresser and chair came out of the room, the rugs were steam cleaned and Sunday the crib, dresser, bookcase and glider were all brought in and set up.

I love the way it all turned out, I am really excited with everything. So, to tell the story a little better, here are pictures

Lil' Pup supervising from downstairs

The old dresser in the corner

The bed and chair, pretty much what you saw when you walked in the door

Our one and only guest bed now lives in the garage...sorry guests!

The new layout! Changing table in the corner, bookcase under the window and the crib against the wall where the bed was.

The new glider in the corner, it glides AND reclines! And yes, the bookcase needs to be organized!
The crib! I liked it in the store and now I love it. The lines are just perfect, and Mr. Pit and my brother says it was a cinch to put together :) The picture of the fish will also come down upon Lil Pit's arrival and will be replaced with his or her monogram, thanks to Decal Monograms!!

Now all we need is a mattress and to get all the bedding cleaned and put on there, but that is all for another weekend.

Oh yeah, and that wicker horse was Mr. Pits when he was little and living in Thailand, so Lil' Pit already has their first pony :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

xoxo Mrs. Pit

Furry Friday!

Meet Mick! I thought in honor of upcoming St. Patrick's day I would show off a dog with some Irish heritage...but in this case I just chose one with an Irish name :)

Mick is a Chow-Chow and look how handsome he is?! I love the lion-like mane that Chows have, too freaking cute. Don't you just want to snuggle with him, what a cozy buddy he would make!

Here's his write up:

Mick is a Chow Chow, one of the oldest known breeds of dogs. He is somewhat smaller than the breed standard and has a reddish/cinnamon colored coat with a "lion-like" mane around his very handsome face. Mick always looks like he is smiling and often shows off his pearly white teeth and "blue" tongue. He is very nice to walk and he rarely pulls on the leash. He has a hoarse bark that sounds like he's whispering secrets to you. Unfortunately, Mick had a severe flea allergy when he came to MLAR and needed a VERY short haircut to facilitate his healing. Once his hair grows back, Mick is going to be an even more popular guy. In the meantime, I bet he'd be willing to wear a very stylish coat. (Martha Stewart has a number of Chows and often features them on her show.) Beat the rush and fill out an application for Mick today.

What a catch this boy seems like, click HERE to go to Main Line Animal Rescue's website to check out all the great animals they have there that desperately need a home. With spring coming up in 8 short days, don't you need a new friend for the new season and beyond?!

The weather is going to be yucky on the Main Line this weekend, so we might put off picking up the glider for the baby's room. We're going to play it by ear because I really want the whole room complete by the end of the weekend, but I'm not going to trudge out in an awful nor'easter to get a newly upholstered chair.

Other than the weather I am really looking forward to the weekend, and wish everyone the best!

Best In-Laws EVER!

After a seemingly long week at work so far, I came home to find THIS in our living room last night!!

Uppababy Vista in Alex (Orange)

Mr. Pit's parents, my AWESOME in-laws bought it for their grandchild, and I am just in awe of how generous everyone is. I knew I married into a great family years ago, and Mr. Pit and I are SO SO SO lucky to have such supportive amazing parents during this process. Between the bookcase last weekend and the totally rad stroller of yesterday, I'm not sure it can even GET better?!

PLUS, this stroller took about 2 minutes to get out of the box AND put together. The wheels just snap right in and the whole contraption folds up into hardly anything when you take the bassinet out...totally cool :) Plus, the orange color is awesome and totally gender neutral friendly!!

So, that is the highlight of the week. Tonight I have yoga, to which I haven't been in ages due to random things happening on Thursday nights over the past month, but tonight I am definitely going and am really looking forward to an hour and a half of ME time :)

Hope all is well with everyone, we're supposed to get some pretty nasty rain here the new few days, so if you're somewhere sunshine-y, enjoy!

xoxo Mrs. Pit

Furry Friday!

Morning all! Meet Sissy! Sissy is a female lab mix who was rescued from the streets and brought to MLAR for recuperation. She is doing really well per her write up, and desperately wants a home so she can improve even more! Plus, she's only about 2 years old, which makes her even more appealing if you want a dog that's already housebroken...and who doesn't?

Here is her write up:

Sissy is a gentle lab mix who was rescued from the streets of Philadelphia. When she first came to us she was very skinny and very scared - she didn't have an easy life you could tell. But thanks to the patience of the volunteers and staff, she has come out of her shell already and learned to trust humans again. She now walks proudly around the farm with her head held high and her tail up. It was a wonderful transformation to watch and to see how resilient dogs truly are. She is a young girl, maybe 2 years old, and when she gets in the field you realize her age since she runs SO fast and all over the fields. She is such fun to watch! If you'd like to continue on with the progress we've made with Sissy please fill out an application and come meet this cute girl!

How great does she sound? Click HERE for more information on how to adopt Sissy or any of the other animals at Main Line Animal Rescue!

Sorry for not posting more this week, my schedule has been a bit off with Mr. Pit out of the country, but he gets back Sunday morning and I can't wait to go pick him up at the airport.

Today I actually have a half day so I can go home and meet the insurance adjuster since we had a leak in our roof/ceiling/window area during the last storm and we need to get it repaired before the big spring rain storms come in. Then tomorrow I plan on heading out to the outlets in Lancaster to see if I can find a white bookcase for Little Pit's room. It's amazing how such a little piece of furniture can be so expensive and elusive! But, I am determined to find one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and it still cute enough to hold all the fun picture books we got!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

More Snow, a new living room...and a belly pic!

Hi everyone,
I sit safely ensconced in my living room, while 6 inches of snow fell last night and another 16-20 are expected to fall today...so I emailed the boss, told him I was working from home and here I am. I really am working, my other tab in my mozilla is my outlook folder I swear!

Anyways, I came home last night to a newly painted living room and I couldn't be happier. This is what it looked like before: A yellow/green/beige color with the original pine window casings. NOT my favorite, but I lived with it for almost 3 years because we couldn't find the time or money to get someone in to do it (and yes, I know I'm in construction and should want to paint my own house...but no, painting, electrical and all car repairs I leave to professionals)

BUT, now the walls are a nice light green (Spring Morn to be exact!) and the windows are completely white (Polar Bear really) and I couldn't be happier. The room is 10 times brighter now and I just love it.

Not the best pictures because it was dark outside and we don't have the best lighting in the room, but here's one out the window this morning at the new snow and the white of the windows now really makes the room 'pop' if you ask me.
And, I am posting this for the few people that have been asking incessantly for a belly picture. This was taken on Sunday, so I'd officially be 28 weeks and 2 days pregnant in this picture. WARNING: Repost this picture on Facebook and we're no longer friends...but otherwise enjoy!
